Presentation at 46th Annual NCHC Conference in Phoenix
On October 19th, Honors students Sarah Guarino, Caitlin Music, Theresa Riley, Shanna Srock, and I departed from a rain-soaked Ashland, Ohio to attend the 46th Annual National Collegiate Honors Council conference in sunny Phoenix, Arizona. While we enjoyed the cloudless, 90-degree weather, exploring Phoenix by participating in the NCHC-sponsored City As Text explorations, the conference takeover of the Arizona Science Museum and eating at Los Reyes de la Torta (featured on Man vs. Food), the main purpose of our journey was to deliver a presentation entitled "Soliya's Connect Program: Encouraging Dialogue between Honors Students and Students from Predominantly Muslim Universities." Sarah, Caitlin, Theresa and Shanna were among eighteen Honors students enrolled in the Fall 2010 Honors Interdisciplinary Seminar during which they communicated with students from around the world using an Internet-based, video-conferencing platform. Our presentation was well-received by attendees and we are looking forward to the prospect of attending the 2012 NCHC conference in Boston.
